Melvin Oduah is an award-winning actor model and presenter. His prominence in entertainment started when he contested for Gulder Ultimate Search 6 in 2009 and emerged as the first runner-up. You are an actor. Which actors both home and abroad inspire you the most?
Two of my favourite actors are Denzel Washington and Tom Cruise. I’m a fan of seeing consistent good acting and both actors are good at that. In Nigeria, there are a lot of veteran actors that inspire me, including Olu Jacobs and Pete Edochie.
As an actor, what is your current assessment of the Nollywood industry?
I am very impressed with the growth of the Nigerian movie industry. Comparing the movies produced in the past decades to now, it is evident that the standard in production has improved. However, we need to attract more investment opportunities in the sector.
As an actor, what role does Nigeria play within your creative process?
My experience as a Nigerian influences my creative process as an actor. It has aided me in playing diverse roles such as a lawyer or tout.
What legacy would you like to leave in the Nollywood industry?
I want to be an example to upcoming actors to achieve their ambition in Nollywood.
How do you see your career evolving in the next 10 years?
The long-term plan is to go beyond being an actor and become a movie producer. I intend to go to film schools and garner more knowledge on making groundbreaking movies.
